      As yet, this word is attested only in this poem or glossaries to it created at a later date. For a discussion of its semantic development, see Professor Angus Matheson’s article in Éigse 6 (pp. 61-62) in which he concludes that the meaning must be ‘cloven-hoofed, cloven footed’.
